Safe Campuses Now presents Chris Sandy and Eric Krug.  Two real life stories demonstrating the life impact drinking and driving can have.

featuring Chris Sandy
Seven years ago, Chris Sandy was a normal 22-year old kid.  That normal life came to an abrupt end on the evening of April 11, 2000 when Chris decided to go to a party, have four mixed drinks, and drive down a country road outside of Atlanta...

featuring Eric Krug
Ten years ago, Eric Krug was a standout baseball player at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia.  He was a typical college student...enjoying life, hanging out with friends and having a good time.  But this life that Eric knew came to an abrupt and horrific end on the night of April 11, 1997...

Blitz Posters 2006
     Poster Campaign

The inside of a bathroom stall may never look the same again if Safe Campuses Now has anything to do with it. SCN has initiated a poster campaign that addresses issues such as exercise and pedestrian safety, date rape, DUI prevention and alcohol poisoning. The posters will be placed in bathroom stalls in local bars and restaurants. They will also appear in high schools and colleges including Piedmont, Gainesville and Athens Tech, along with The University of Georgia.

SCN worked with the Hospitality Resource Panel, business owners, students and law enforcement agencies to develop key topics. The posters pertaining to alcohol and pedestrian-related injuries will be funded through a grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. Donations are being sought to fund other topics related to young adults. SCN is making a conscious effort to reach both male and female audiences.

In order to get these important messages across effectively, SCN interns majoring in marketing, public relations and health promotions and behavior consulted with Snowden Tatarski, a local marketing firm, and a graphic designer with Leon Farmer & Co.

"Boy Next Door"
You probably weren't warned about the boy next door.
You are four times as likely to be raped by a date, that guy who just bought you a drink or the boy next door than by people your mother may have warned you about.
"Dorm Door"
Is this really what you want on your message board?
In Georgia, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08, or .02 if you are under 21, guarantees you a 24 hour jail stay, 40 hours community service, one year probation and losing your license.
Call a friend, take a cab...Just don't drink and drive.
"Game Over"
Look before you leap.  Reality doesn't offer extra lives.
A pedestrian or bicyclist dies every 3-1/2 minutes.
Don't become a statistic.
"Granny"
Turns out she does know best.
Don't take candy (or beer) from strangers.
Always lock your doors.
Clean your ears or you'll grow potatoes.
Don't drink and drive.
Look left, right, left before crossing the street.
Don't put things in your mouth.  You'll get worms.
No means no.
Be safe.  You can't be replaced.
"Hang Up and Drive"
Hitting a pedestrian can happen in the blink of an eye, but consequences can last a lifetime.
Hang up and drive.
A pedestrian or bicyclist is killed every 30 minutes.
"Interview"
Orange jumpsuits aren't considered business attire.
Be remembered for your qualifications not your criminal history at your next job interview.  A drinking and driving arrest can be a black mark on your permanent record and resume.
"Let's Meet Up"
Let's meet up later.  We'll be waiting for you.
Think twice before you stumble home alone.
"Yearbook"
Drinking and driving isn't something you want to be remembered for.
In Georgia, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08, or .02 if you are under 21, guarantees you a 24 hour jail stay, 40 hours community service, one year probation and losing your license.
Call a friend, take a cab...Just don't drink and drive.
"Yearbook Prom"
Be remembered for your mad skills on the dance floor, not your DUI arrest.
Drink and drive on prom night, or any other, and you are a guaranteed a 24 hour jail stay, 40 hours community service, one year probation and losing your license.
Drunk driving can turn a good time into your last time.
