Tailgate Safety |
|
In an effort
to educate students about local laws and ordinances concerning
alcohol and game day behavior, Safe Campuses Now is proud to work
with campus and community experts to deliver educational Tailgate
Safety events events each Thursday (before home football games) from
1-4 p.m. on the University of Georgia campus. These event will
either be held at the Tate Student Center lawn or in the lobby of
the East Campus Village Dining Hall.
The focus will
be impaired driving, pedestrian safety, scooter safety, etc. We will
provide tables, decorations, handouts, GOHS brochures, free
popsicles and volunteers. UGA PD will be at each event doing mock
field sobriety testing with the Fatal Vision Goggles. Attendees will
also be entered into a drawing for a football autographed by Coaches
Richt and Dooley.
These event
will feature local law enforcement from the University of Georgia
and Athens-Clarke County Police Departments. Student organizations
with similar missions have also been invited to participate in these
events.
In addition, we are working with the Athens-Clarke
County Police Department's Traffic Division, the Georgia State
Patrol and the University of Georgia Police Department to combine an
enforcement aspect to these educational events. Checkpoints will be
held every Thursday night prior to UGA Football home games. |
